Freight Forwarding Assistant

We are hiring a Freight Forwarding Assistant to support the coordination and management of international shipments for a global client portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth movement of goods from origin to final destination by working closely with clients, suppliers, transport providers, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple shipments while delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Shipment Coordination & Logistics:

• Coordinate shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery.

• Manage the end-to-end movement of international shipments across air, sea, and/or road freight.

• Communicate proactively with suppliers, agents, and transport providers to arrange collections and deliveries.

• Monitor shipments in transit and resolve operational issues to minimize delays.

• Ensure shipments are executed efficiently and in accordance with international shipping requirements.

• Support continuous improvements to logistics processes and operational efficiency.

Client Relationship Management:

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding shipment progress.

• Provide regular updates on shipment status throughout the shipping process.

• Keep clients informed of any delays, issues, or changes affecting their shipments.

• Deliver exceptional customer service while managing client expectations professionally.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Review and validate shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, and Packing Lists where applicable.

• Ensure all shipping documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with customs requirements.

• Liaise with internal customs teams to support efficient customs clearance processes.

• Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and client communications.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years experience working in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations.

• Strong understanding of international shipping processes across air, sea, and/or road freight.

• Knowledge of key shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading and Commercial Invoices.

• Familiarity with Incoterms and international trade practices.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple shipments and competing deadlines simultaneously.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to operational challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience coordinating international freight shipments.

• Knowledge of customs clearance procedures and compliance requirements.

• Experience working with international suppliers, freight agents, and transport providers.

• Familiarity with continuous process improvement within logistics operations.

Schedule & Pay:

• Full-Time position; Monday - Friday UK time.

• Fully remote role for a UK-based company.

• Pay ranges from R14,000 - R16,000 per month.

• Annual raises and confirmed holidays.

• Internet speed of at least 20 Mbps.

• Computer with a 2.4 GHz processor or higher.

• 8 GB of RAM or higher.

• Windows 10 or newer, or Mac OS X 10.10 or newer.

• HD 720p webcam.
