Overview
We are hiring a Bookkeeper & Office Administrator (Construction) for a residential construction company in the Construction industry. This is a part-time, fully remote role supporting a United Kingdom-based company.
This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in bookkeeping for small businesses, preferably within the construction industry. The ideal candidate is confident using QuickBooks Online, enjoys keeping financial records accurate, communicates professionally, and can independently manage administrative tasks in a fast-paced remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank/credit card reconciliations.
Prepare and send customer quotations and invoices while tracking payments and following up on outstanding balances.
Support payroll processing by maintaining employee records, timesheets, and payroll-related documentation.
Process vendor invoices, purchase orders, expense receipts, and ensure timely payments.
Maintain job and project records while assisting with basic job costing for residential construction projects.
Monitor shared inboxes and respond professionally to customer, supplier, and internal team inquiries (approximately 10% of workload).
Perform data entry, document management, filing, and general office administration tasks.
Prepare regular financial summaries and reports for management.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members to collect documentation and resolve administrative or accounting inquiries.
Maintain organized digital records using Microsoft 365 and shared cloud storage.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks Online.
Proven experience managing invoicing, quotations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable in a small business environment.
Previous experience supporting construction, trades, or field service businesses (residential construction preferred).
Experience assisting with payroll processing and employee timesheet management.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with professional email etiquette.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with UK-based construction companies and familiarity with UK bookkeeping terminology.
Knowledge of job costing and construction accounting best practices.
QuickBooks Online Certification or advanced QuickBooks training.
Experience supporting growing small businesses in a remote environment.

Schedule & Pay
Part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week).
Working hours fall between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM GMT/BST, with flexibility across 4–5 working days.
This is a fully remote position supporting a United Kingdom-based company.
Compensation ranges from R7,000-R10,000 per month
Includes onboarding support, training, and opportunities to grow into expanded hours or a full-time position based on performance.
